O2/CO2 GLOVE BOX FOR HANDLING CELL CULTURES UNDER UNINTERRUPTED CONDITIONS
A practical system for handling your cells under the same conditions at which they are incubated!

SUBOPTIMAL CONDITIONS
Interruption in optimal O2 and/or CO2 conditions can have major effects on cell cultures. Normally when cells are manipulated outside their incubator, in clean hoods, conditions of temperature, pH, pCO2 and pO2 are disrupted. Sometimes severely. Sometimes for a long, long time. 

GENE EXPRESSION
The effects of suboptimal exposures can be devastating on cultures. For instance, consider oxygen regulated genes. Hypoxia upregulated genes are immediately shut off by even brief exposures to room air.

INCONSISTENT RESULTS
Imagine what can happen to receptors, ion channels, cytokines, extracellular matrix, etc. when the pH changes out of the physiologic range!

UINTERRUPTED PROCESSING
The C-Shuttle Glove Box is a practical solution. It provides ample workspace where you can handle and manipulate your cells without disruption of the O2 and/or CO2. It’s a central component of our unique SubChamber System.

OPERATION

OPERATION

The unique C-Shuttle Glove Box is a component of the SubChamber System. It provides a workspace for cell culture processing under the same O2/CO2 conditions that the cells live, while in the incubator.

Another component, the C-Chambers, provide a gas tight transport of cultures from the incubator to the workspace and back to the incubator

The pass through chamber, or antechamber, of the glove box is designed to fit C-Chambers. You can leave C-Chambers in the antechamber, and remove cells into uninterrupted O2/CO2 atmosphere, manipulate them without disturbance, and finally return them into the incubator with the same O2/CO2.

One C-Shuttle Glove Box can handle dozens of distributed C-Chambers around the building. You just have to take turns.

The C-Shuttle is made of white clean chemical resistant polypropylene. It is simple, practical and effective.

C-Shuttle Operation

STEP 1 - Balance C-Chamber in one hand while you open pass through door with the other. It’s safer to set C-Chamber down while you open pass through.

STEP 2 - Slide front of C-Chamber into antechamber (pass through chamber). Be careful to keep C-Chamber level while you place it inside.

STEP 3 - Set C-Chamber all the way inside, so front door nudges up against the workspace door. Then close pass through door.

Uninterruptibility

When working in a C-Shuttle your cells are never exposed to sub-optimal conditions. Whether you’re using Oxygen/CO2/Nitric Oxide your workspace and transport is always controlled to a precise and optimal level. Top scientists have been telling us for decades that the sudden shift of oxygen from open incubator doors and manipulating cells in normal room air is causing havoc on HIF and other transcription factors.

Clinical evidence is mounting regarding oxygen's role in gene expression. Difference in culture and processing conditions lead to inconsistent results. Differences in culture and processing conditions leads to inconsistent results.

Contamination

In open labs with open hoods, cells and researchers share the critical workspace most of the time. The majority of contamination in labs is caused by humans and their bioburden. With a closed environment  provided with the C-Shuttle and C-Chambers the main source of contamination is removed.

C-Shuttles protect the researchers

Cells are often purposely grown and processed to generate or test viruses and vectors. More worrisome is when cells are unknowingly infected with viruses or other transmissible agents. C-Chambers will limit exposure to harmful viruses, vectors and prions where conventional open labs allow the technicians to breathe potentially dangerous non-cellular biological entities.

Softside gloves are most comfortable and flexible. Iris ports are also an option. Two sets of gloves allow two different people to access the workspace at the same time.

C-Shuttle Performance

C-Shuttle antechamber receives chambers C-174, C-274, and C-374. Cultures can easily be moved from their host incubator, without disturbance of O2 and/or CO2.

Cultures can be handled inside the glove box workspace at the same O2 and/or CO2 by simply opening the C-Chamber from inside.
